Notater - A memorial service to celebrate the life of Wayne O. Christensen, 89, of Lakeside, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 13, at the Hauser Community Church, 69411 Wildwood Drive, with pastor John Adams presiding. Private cremation rites were held at Ocean View Memory Gardens in Coos Bay, with a private family scattering ceremony at sea to take place at a later date.
Wayne was born May 23, 1921, in Armstrong, Iowa, to Forrest Martin Christensen and Thelma Cecelia (Anderson) Christensen. He passed away Nov. 6, 2010, in Reedsport.
Wayne was a retired commercial fisherman. He was the owner /captain of the vessel Silver Belle operating out of the port in Winchester Bay. He met and later married the love of his life, Katherine L. Palmer, on Sept. 14, 1941, in Algona, Iowa, and together they raised two daughters and a son. They recently celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary.
