- Leonora Steuermann, age 94, of Carroll died Monday, July 25, 2016, in Lake City, Iowa.
A funeral service will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday July 27, 2016 at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll.
Friends may call at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll from 5 p.m. until the 7 p.m. funeral service.
Burial will be at a later date at the Black Hills National Cemetery in Sturgis, South Dakota.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll.
Born on September 4, 1921 at Bancroft, Iowa, Leonora was the daughter of Leo and Agnes (Christensen) Delperdang. She grew up in Bancroft, and graduated from St. John’s Catholic High School.
On January 24, 1941 Leonora was united in marriage to Robert Steuermann at Sutherland, Iowa.
Leonora was a devoted homemaker raising her children, and when they were old enough she worked part time for the Sutherland Courier, and the Sutherland Library.
After her children were raised she and Robert moved to Custer, South Dakota where she owned and operated Nora’s Sweet Shop.
After the passing of her husband in 1994, Leonora moved to the Carroll community in 1995 to be closer to her family.
Leonora enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, and watching Jeopardy. She will be remembered as a seamstress who made beautiful work including baptismal gowns, first communion dresses, and prom dresses.
Leonora is survived by her daughter Pat Weitl of Templeton; her son Michael (Susan) Steuermann of Port Orchard, Washington; six grandchildren: Judy (Cliff) Richardson of Des Moines, Jennifer (Toby) Klauenberg of Ogden, Jean (Bill) Linde of Glidden, Jill Reetz of Lake City, Shawn Steuermann of Washington State, and Matt Steuermann of Washington State; twelve great-grandchildren, and eight great-great grandchildren. Also surviving are her siblings: Lillian Rice of Portland, Oregon, Mary (Al) Sterken of Michigan, Charles Delperdang of Aurora, Colorado, Arthur (Paralee) Delperdang of Camden, South Carolina; and her sister-in-law Alvina Delperdang of Bancroft, as well as many nieces, nephews, and other extended relatives.
Leonora was preceded in death by her parents, husband Robert in 1994, a son-in-law: C.J. Weitl, her siblings: Arnold (Melva) Delperdang, Gordon Delperdang, Geneva (Ray) Kollasch, Dorothy (Tom) Hoban, and Philomene (Daryl) Hunt; her brothers-in-law: Ray (Bonnie) Steuermann, and Mike Ric
